Go for it!
cool

na dann:
I have to state at the beginning, that I am no marketing agent nor have any connection with BRP apart from the customer relationship.
I just felt, and I assume some of you feel the same way, that the G165 just is not agile enough for more dynamic driving, that would be suiting dynamic nature and character of CX5. For a long time, I searched for possibilities to increase the power output, but was, like some of you, skeptical about tuning possibilities of a "Sauger" petrol engine.
However, after a long research, I stumbled over the company "BRP". They do a lot of re-maps for German customers also in Luxembourg and are TÜV certified ( TÜV accepts their tuning and updates car documents after chip to new power output.
If you check their website, you will see they do a lot of high-end cars as well and have only the best references. So I thought I give it a try.
The technical background of this whole fun is, that the engine management system is limited to certain power output by the manufacturer to meet emission norms, function on various fuel qualities and foster fuel consumption ( electronic gas pedal delivery ).
ECU re-map changes engine setup and changes these limitations ( limited by VVT setup, fuel injection, gas pedal reaction and power curve )
This is on the high-level how the "chiptunung" works also on "Sauger". So not only by upping turbo pressure
They firstly did dyno measures of factory output, which was very surprising - since it showed only 150ps on the wheels compared to factory 165. Again, factory states power output of the engine directly, not on the wheels. On the way to the wheels, loss of up to 15% of power is common ( check also US forums where ford mustang guys complain about having 50ps less on the dyno than factory states )
BRP makes a custom re-map for each ECU. So no "billig-tuning-boxen" from Ebay. It took about 3hours and you have seen results from the readings.
In real life, car feels a lot more alive. Especially low-mid range. Reaction on gas pedal are more direct and in mid-high range, car really "flies". Where I was left with a sad face and had to drop a gear before, now I just put my foot down and things happen
Fuel consumption is a little higher, but I would say this is due to more fun driving dynamically now

If you wish, you can still drive it like a diesel.
On the Autobahn, you can use more of the long gears 5-6 in long up-hills even with a fully packed car. Beforehand, I had to drop to 5th or 4th to keep the progress.
So overall, very good feeling and I am happy with the results.
Cheers
